The company was founded in 1976 by Sy Sperling. In 2005, Hair Club was purchased by the public Minneapolis company Regis. In 2012, Regis sold Hair Club to the Japanese wigmaker Aderans.The company caters to a predominantly male clientele, but in recent years has added services for women to address female hair loss and thinning brought on by chemotherapy, menopause, postpartum stress, trichotillomania, hormonal imbalances, and natural aging.
